Crystal Gallego Crystal Was a beautiful little girl. she had soft brown curly hair and brown eyes. she was so tiny in size you would think she was younger than she really was. She loved life and would melt your heart when she would say hello or smile. She didn't like to hear anyone argue and shared everything she had and got along with everyone she met. She was one of 4 grandchildren born in our family in 1987 and one of the "Three Muskateers" that included her cousins Alisha Shontae Williams and Tiffany Marie Anderson. They spent most of thier infant years together strolling in thier walkers and sharing cookies that Na-Na gave them. They all said they would share their lives together until the day they die,but that came to a short conclusion for crystal. June 14,1993 while crossing in a crosswalk 50 feet from her house, she was struck by a speeding car that failed to yield the right of way to her and the neighbor's older children that took her to buy some candy. Crystal's little body was thrown some 84 feet into the air and landed some 68 feet to the curb where she laid motionless. A passerby ran to her aid and held her hand assuring her that help was on the way. Crystal was airlifted from Charter Suburban Hopsitial in Paramount to Long Beach Memorial Hospitial where they tried to stableize her. All the family gathered at the hospital and then one by one to her bed side. She lay so quietly there like a sleeping angel, the tubes there but no response, a tear came from her eye as the nurse said she was gone.Crystal was pronounced "Brain Dead" at the age of 5 years 11 months and 18 days of life.just 13 days before her 6 th birthday. We celebrated her life on her birthday at her favorite park, Shoreline Villiage Park in Long Beach California, she was creamated because she didn't want to be buried due to the fact she didn't like bugs. Instead her ashes where scattered at sea. Crystals heart was donated to "Baby Jesse" (Later died of heart rejection one month to the date) and her liver to a 6 month old baby girl. she lives on in our hearts and the baby that is now 10 years old. Crystal's cousin Tiffany is currently writing a book of poety in her memory.
